What is a “veteran” according to the Ministry of Defense?

“A veteran is a serviceman of Dutch nationality who has served the Kingdom of the Netherlands in war conditions or similar situations, including international peacekeeping missions within and outside the United Nations context, as well as personnel of former governmental armed forces under war conditions or in international peacekeeping missions. has served and the militarized merchant navy personnel from the Second World War. ”

Defense has equated some small groups with veterans. You can  read more about this in the  Veteran Handbookand can be obtained from the Veterans Institute.

De Oude Stomp ‘is an activity center for veterans, active military personnel and their home front, especially for Alphen aan den Rijn and the South Holland region. But … of course every veteran is welcome in our center! To catch up with other veterans, to tinker with his / her car or to be involved with other forms of ‘manual labor’, such as sculpting or modeling. We have a living room, a hobby room and a meeting room. We want to be a support in the back where desirable. We like the shoulder and the listening ear for the ‘bars’ and their home front.

Interested? Just come along and see what we do and what we are concerned with. We are open almost every day and there is usually someone present and the coffee is always ready!

‘De Oude Stomp’ is located at Louis Pasteurweg 7 in Alphen aan den Rijn.

The opening hours are:
Monday to Friday from 10 am to 4 pm
Saturday 11 am to 3 pm
An evening opening is possible. Please contact one of the board members for this.

A board member is also present during the opening on Saturday.
